Currently, we are seeking a talented Actuarial Programmer to join the Life Insurance Division in Aliso Viejo, CA
The Life Insurance Division works with financial and insurance professionals to give families and businesses the life insurance coverage needed to help meet important financial protection, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation goals.

Target level is for an Associate Actuary with flexibility to consider candidates at other levels. Candidates who meet most but not all of the requirements are encouraged to apply. Actual job offer and title will be based on level of experience and skillset.

This actuarial programmer or associate actuary works in the Product Design Department of the Life Insurance Division to provide modeling and technical support in all aspects to product design team.   • Support the operation and maintenance of pricing systems and tools. Implement best practices from across the actuarial profession, insurance industry, and software development practice to develop Best in Class models and testing tools. Act as the subject matter expert and technical advisor to the pricing model users.
  • Build or help build other pricing/testing tools as needed. Maintain and update those tools.
  • Build new life insurance products into pricing systems and tools.
  • Participate in life insurance product pricing as needed.
  • Provide training and technical support to new and existing users.
  • Manages streams of work on modeling related engagements
  • Maintains model release and model risk governance documentations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Services, or equivalent experience.
  • Successfully passed SOA exam Financial Mathematics (FM) and Life Contingencies (MLC) highly desired. ASA or FSA a plus.
  • Three or more years of programming experience with solid design, coding, debugging and testing skills.
  • Good understanding of life insurance product pricing principle as well as the regulations and actuarial guidelines applicable to life insurance products is highly desired.
  • Strong working knowledge in MS Excel, MS Access, VBA and C++/C#.
  • Strong communication skills to provide effective training and support to the team and other users.
  • Ability to work in both a team and autonomous environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines with thoughtful planning and effective execution.
  • Experience with development of actuarial modeling systems a plus. MG-ALFA highly preferred.
