Job Description

Dorman Products, a $1B global supplier of aftermarket automotive parts, is seeking an Electronics Test Development Engineer II to design, develop, and implement test fixtures, functional gauges, and custom test equipment to support new product development and/or reduce the cost of quality. The job involves creating electro-mechanical testing equipment to baseline test OE components, generate performance data, first article inspection test validation and end of line tests. Primary Duties:

  • Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
  • Selection and design of test equipment, functional gauges, and data acquisition equipment from concept to implementation.
  • Assist product team engineers in product development activities by setting up and performing product tests.
  • Assist other team members with larger projects.
  • Maintain clean safe working environment.
  • Participate in continuous lean process improvements.
  • Clear written and verbal communication to all stakeholders regarding all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Clear documentation of assigned projects including: Operator instructions, Technical drawings, Operation Setup, Maintenance, Bill of Materials.
  • Manage multiple projects with high attention to detail, due dates and priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Proficient in electronics design, manufacturing, and testing procedures.
  • Proficient with circuit design software.
  • Considerable knowledge of automotive and vehicle hardware.
  • Experience with electronics troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experienced with the use of power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition equipment.
  • Experience with Vehicle Communications such as CAN, J1850, J1939, LIN, etc.
  • Proficient with Technical Documentation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a cross-functional team.
  • Mechanical design experience a plus.
  • LabVIEW programming experience a plus.


  • BS degree in a related technical field with 2+ years of experience.
  • Or Associates degree in a related technical field with 5+ years of experience.
