GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab9, the world leader in RF semiconductor manufacturing in Essex Junction, VT, is seeking an entry level semiconductor shift equipment engineer. The individual selected for this position will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering organization with primary responsibilities focused on support, and continuous improvement of 200mm semiconductor equipment. This role is on a shift schedule – compressed week of 12-hour shifts. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing engineering support across all shifts. 

Essential Responsibilities:    

  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to lead hands on, tactical troubleshooting efforts to resolve long term performance issues; must be able to deconstruct and understand complex systems

  • Standard work: 

    • Monitor, control, and qualify 200 mm semiconductor equipment

    • Perform basic preventive maintenance activities

    • React to error messages of factory systems and/or equipment

    • Process wafers using defined procedures

    • Recover from process and tool interruptions

    • Complete all required reporting and documentation

  • Continuous Improvement: 

    • Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning and skills development

    • Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize tool availability, cycle time, utilization and cost

    • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to screen and optimize equipment to meet technology (performance, yield, and reliability) and manufacturing (process stability, cost of ownership) targets.

  • Strong team member, able to work well with a global team, and other duties as assigned. Collaborate with GLOBALFOUNDRIES maintenance and process engineering to support development of improved next generation technologies

  • Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements. Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and program




Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree: Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.Must be mechanically inclined and able to lead hands on, tactical troubleshooting efforts to resolve long term performance issues; must be able to deconstruct and understand complex systemsAbility to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.Fluent in English (Written & Verbal)10% travel may be required.Preferred Qualifications:2-4 Years of Relevant ExperienceCOOP/Intern in semiconductor or manufacturing industry.Knowledge of semiconductor/silicon processing.Prior experience working in a semiconductor clean room environment.Understanding and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
