This position is primarily responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting an organization’s local and wide area network (LAN/WAN), internet systems, and desktop workstations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining network hardware and software, monitoring network performance, and ensuring network availability to all system users and perform preventative maintenance as needed. May supervise other network support specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
While this position is the IT department, the primary responsibilities revolve around providing quality customer support to our internal and external users as well as taking every precaution to ensure high availability during business hours.
This position will be included in the company profit sharing/bonus plan and a portion of that bonus is based upon user feedback from the company end user community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Responsible for managing and monitoring data backups as well as planning and testing the disaster recovery solutions against PermaPlate Service Level Agreements.
Monitors, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware such as distributing or installing critical updates and software patches as needed to secure company systems.
Configures, monitors, and maintains email applications and virus protection software.
Operates master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
Designs, configures, and tests computer hardware, networking software and operating system software. Builds desktop workstation images and deploys to new systems as necessary.
Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
Provides network support and confers with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
Locates and deploys new systems that will benefit the company and its user community such as Microsoft Lync, SharePoint, and others where appropriate.
The preferred candidate will be able to both works independently and in a team environment, operate with minimal oversight while following through on the stated objectives of the IT Department and the company.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
College or university program certificate or degree in computer science or a related field; two to four years related experience and/or training.
Required Skills: The following skills are required to be considered for this position. VMWare, Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, Barracuda Firewalls, MS SQL Server, and experience in implementing and managing a backup and disaster recovery solution across multiple locations and systems.
Additional Experiences: Those candidates that have the following skills and experiences will be given preference. Experience managing a remote workforce using MS Surface Pros and company cell phones. Experience in setting up and managing hosted/cloud solutions, DRaaS solutions, as well as experience in evaluating business needs and reviewing and selection vendor systems based upon the business requirements.
The qualified candidate should be certified in the following: VMware, Microsoft Active Directory/MS SQL Server, and Server Virtualization.
