Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Manager. 
 

The Project Manager position resides within DataCore, a resource within MCIT that provides enterprise-level support in the areas of electronic data capture, storage, management, integrity, extraction, and sharing. Under the management of the Faculty Director of DataCore (Clinical Research Informatics Director), who is also housed in the Division of Healthcare Delivery Science in The Department of Population Health, the position will serve as the primary contact for NYULH researchers seeking data support. In this client-facing role, s/he will support DataCore's request fulfillment process.
Specifically, s/he will review service and support requests; consult with researchers to define, validate, and document request specifications; assign resources to approved requests; and provide project management support to ensure that deliverables meet specifications and are completed on time. In addition, s/he will assist in developing statements of work, project plans, timelines, and resource estimates. The successful candidate will also help develop training and implementation materials and provide end-user training for research applications (e.g., i2b2, Slicer/Dicer). Lastly, s/he will participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance existing processes and identify unmet needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define scope and develop statements of work, either independently or under the guidance of DataCore Directors, based on request specifications; identify project milestones, phases, and elements; manage project staffing, including assignment of resources; monitor project budgets, when applicable; monitor project progress by tracking milestones, routinely producing time and effort reports and/or demand analyses, resolving problems as they arise, and coordinating status/update meetings with investigators.
  • Lead discussions with investigators to determine and document request specifications; facilitate negotiation of requirements among multiple stakeholders, as needed; manage stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Review and triage requests in the DataCore intake form.
  • Assist in assigning resources to approved requests for DataCore services.
  • Identify similarity of new requests to prior requests to facilitate re-use.
  • Assist in creating user accounts and provide end-user support for research applications (e.g., i2b2, Slicer/Dicer).
  • Follow-up with requestors to assess satisfaction and quality.
  • Survey investigators and collect feedback regarding future research needs and suggestions for improving the DataCore request fulfillment process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have a Must have a Masters degree or currently enrolled in business administration, computer science, health care administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in an analytical role with demonstrated knowledge of project management and financial concepts, statistical analysis, and software applications.
  • Healthcare experience, particularly with the use of Epic is a plus.
  • Experience in managing project teams and working with professionals with a variety of skills and backgrounds.
  • Good business sense with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with other data analysis and Business Intelligence tools (Business Objects, Tableau, and PowerPivot) required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
