Salary Range of $70 to 90K depending on experience. Hours are 7 am to 3:30 pm.

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Inspector.
Successful candidate will be required to train for two weeks at the Grand Prairie QA Lab on material inspection and testing including the procedures of the Quality Manual for the concrete pressure pipe.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Conduct inspection and testing in accordance with the requirements of the project specifications and as directed by the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

Perform visual examination, non-destructive testing (NDT), and measurements of straight pipe sections, specials, and fittings using calibrated tools and gauges and in according with the appropriate procedure listed in the Quality Manual (QM) for concrete pipe. If an alternate procedure is specified by the project specifications, the specification requirements supersede those listed in the manual.

Verify welding of steel cylinder and fittings is performed in compliance with the appropriate welding procedures and using qualified welders.

Perform sampling of steel, welds, concrete, cement-mortar lining, or coating, etc, as required by the project specifications or the applicable procedure of the QM and in the frequency specified in the project specification.

Perform inspection at each stage of manufacturing in accordance with the requirement of the project specification or the applicable standard and in the frequency specified.

Fill out and complete the necessary document pertaining to each inspection activity using the proper QA forms.

Identify product that does not satisfy requirements using appropriate markings / tags and prepare a non-conforming product report to initiate correction of the nonconformity and / or corrective action to prevent recurrence.

Report all findings to affected plant personnel and management

Coordinate with Third Party Inspectors and Customer Representatives any inspection or verification requested.

The products made at Palatka are concrete pressure pipe and fittings in compliance with AWWA Standards and the project specifications. The QA Inspector must regularly reference and use the requirements covered in the Quality Manual and additional information within the AWWA Standards and project specifications.

Review project specifications and check requirements against AWWA Standards, procedures, or other QC documents. The requirements of the project specification may exceed these and therefore will supersede quality manual and AWWA Standards.

Complete inspection and test reports daily, reporting any non conformities to management upon discovery. All reports are official documents and should be neat, legible, complete, dated and signed.


Work Environment
Concrete pressure pipe fabricated at the Palatka plant facility. The pipe consist of welded steel cylinder enclosed in concrete, wrapped with high tensile reinforcing wire, and coated with cement-mortar. Fabrication of pipe is made in an enclosures using steel forms setup by mobile cranes and casted with concrete from stationary mixer/batching plant. Pipe is wrapped with reinforcing steel at high tension and cement-mortar coated. Curing is done using steam at high temperature. Pipe is yarded using forklifts.

Physical Demands
Preparation of test specimens and testing them requires physical work of light to medium nature. Inspection of pipe requires light to medium physical nature as well
Required Education and Experience
Associate degree in engineering or other programs. Certified welding inspector, ACI Level I, or 3 years’ experience in sampling and testing of concrete and welding.


Preferred Skills
Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
Microsoft words and excel
Pass drug test, background, and medical check.
