
Scrum Master
Job Description
** This is a HYBRID position open to authorized candidates who can be in Vienna, VA at least once/week.*
Our large financial services client is looking to add a Scrum Master to its Digital Agile team. In this contract role, you will work closely with the Product Owner to prioritize and lead the delivery of the initiative’s capabilities by removing impediments, facilitating team meetings and events, and fostering a high-performance environment. You will ensure the continuous workflow of the team. Additionally, you will advocate for, adopt, and coach the team on lean, agile, and scrum practices.
Under moderate supervision, you will apply the Agile methodology to small-scale projects with minimal complexity while being given some freedom to make independent judgments. You’ll bring a broad understanding of business, products, and operating environments, meet general problem-solving needs, and assist project teams with moderate complexity and ambiguity.
What You Will Do
- Support Scrum and Agile development methodologies, eliminate impediments, and lead the team in continuous improvement and heightened efficiency efforts.
- Ensure that the technology and service delivery roadmap support the solution strategy and are sustainable to meet the needs of the multiple solutions delivered on the product
- Assist teams in attaining team goals using current Program Increment (PI) Objectives as iteration goals
- Work continually with team members to ensure goals, scope, and backlog items are understood and achievable
- Identify and clarify scope of problems/issues in terms of business/systems requirements and processes in cooperation with Product Owners, customers, and developers
- Assist the team in improving communication and relationships with other delivery teams; participate in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS), keeping the team aware of engagement opportunities and program effectiveness.
- Engage in challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity
- Support software development teams in applying the Scrum framework
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring
- 3+ years of project management experience leading small-scale projects/activities
- Certified Scrum Master and/or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner
- Leadership experience in agile development teams and facilitation of Agile team meetings
- Promotes the adoption and application of Agile principles and agile values through the application of a Lean-Agile mindset
- Having a working knowledge of development or operations framework methodologies, including Agile principles
- Communication skills with strong verbal and visual presentations with the ability to disseminate relevant information
- Ability to conduct research, analyze, and solve problems
- Building strategic and execution-focused plans and alliances with partners
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without a sponsoring employer indefinitely
Our ideal candidate would bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- In-depth knowledge and experience in Banking/Finance/Investments, familiarity with terminology, concepts, and business processes and systems
- Understanding of the Agile Manifesto
- Knowledge and experience using agile Project Management Tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $67 to $77 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
