Job Description


As a Senior Research Analyst within BCG’s Data and Research Service (DRS) function, you will take lead as a research thought-partner within our Technology Advantage practice area. You will proactively provide specialized support for BCG’s case proposals, ongoing cases, and business or internal development initiatives. You will work on delivering complex research projects and be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of covered topics to BCG’s Case and Knowledge teams. Whilst acting as the local and regional lead for the covered topics and contributing to long-term case engagements; you will also act as a role model and mentor for junior colleagues, providing effective apprenticeship coverage.

Technology Advantage practice area covers a wide variety of tech topics including Digital/IT, Big Data, Agile, IT/Tech Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, AI, and Digital Transformation, among others. The environment is fast-paced and will need you to connect with the customers from the Consulting and Knowledge teams to refine/understand the scope, devise an appropriate approach; package, and deliver to the satisfaction of the customer.


Providing exceptional levels of customer service
  • You will deliver high-quality research on an increasingly complex set of asks for BCG’s Case and Knowledge topic teams. Understanding the larger context of the research need to provide insights/analysis beyond the immediate ask
  • You work closely with key customers of your practice area (Knowledge Team members, Principals, and Partners) to act as the thinking-partner in discussing hypotheses, shaping approaches, providing potential research solution,s and "so what" to the case team
  • You will demonstrate your ability of "storytelling" and produce outputs that can be directly leveraged in the client contexts
  • You will take responsibility for creating knowledge/expertise development via standard products and viewpoints (incl. BCG publications and internal materials such as case studies/vignettes)
Building ‘network of clients’
    • You will proactively engage and build a network of clients in both Case and Knowledge teams; within the context of ongoing cases/requests/topics
    • You will drive scope expansion in collaboration with your Research Lead for ad-hoc and planned research requests; which in turn, would help establish your capabilities to your clients
Coaching and developing others
  • You will serve as a mentor for junior researchers on research quality, output standards, and opportunities to extend the complexity/scope of requests
  • Provide guidance (and periodic training) on research best practices, sources, and approaches to junior researchers
  • Extend Quality Assurance (QA) oversight to set higher standards for your research team; equip juniors to serve in QA capacity as you mature in your role


  • 4-6+ years relevant working experience, with some specialization in 1-2 topics such as Digital/Enterprise IT, Big Data, Agile, IT/Tech Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, AI, Cloud, and Digital Transformation sectors
  • Master’s degree desirable; strong preference to technology programs (e.g. engineering, sciences)
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills; experience of working with global teams preferred
  • Ability to work with a wide array of platforms including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Tableau; to be able to provide insights in the most user-friendly format

The Data and Research Services (DRS) function is a dynamic and highly visible center of excellence focused on business research and process innovation. We collaborate with our consulting teams to bring advanced research capabilities to support projects and clients. DRS provides specialist research services to consulting teams and our Knowledge Team, taking deep pride in delivering rapid and precise results.

DRS works with both qualitative and quantitative data, conducting research and providing synthesized results from over 100 commercial sources, publicly available data, company and industry research, macro-economic, commodities, and trade data.
