Job Description:

General Dynamics is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer SME with a proven track record of performance across several engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented, self-motivated individual who will be responsible for assisting in the design and engineering of several Information Technology (IT) systems in several different IT disciplines.  This individual will provide support to the Systems Architect and assist with the engineering program and lifecycle of the program.  Must have the desire to adapt and grow into the role of a Systems Architect.  The position requires recent technical experience supporting implementations of a complex system.  This experience must include the full lifecycle of the implementation.  This will include leadership through project management, test management, and engineering implementation.  The expectation is to support and complete the required documentation of engineering through the engineering lifecycle and delivery to the architecture repository.  In support of the Systems Architect, this position will require the understanding and/or experience in Enterprise Architecture and its perspective over systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team of system engineers with the following:

– Recent experience in project management to include planning, manning, and budgeting

– Recent experience in requirements management

– Recent experience in project transition from design through test and implementation to release for production

– Must have demonstrated capabilities in technical writing for engineering documentation

– Must have demonstrated capabilities in Change Management

– Must have demonstrated knowledge in Service Management

Must have an understanding of the following skill requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience across several of the following disciplines:
    • Network Architecture
    • DataCenter Architecture
    • Telephony Architecture
    • Physical Security Architecture
    • Audio/Visual Architecture
  • Proven experience in project leadership
    • Ability to create and execute a project plan
    • Ability to delegate and supervisor project teams to success
  • Proven experience in Requirements Management
    • Ability to ellicite requirements from stakeholders
    • Properly categorize requirements into a RTM
  • Demonstrated knowledge Change & Configuration Management

Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge in Service Management
    • ITIL or ITSM knowledge
    • Knowledge in CMDB design, implementation, and utilization best practices
    • Knowledge of ITSM platforms – e.g. ServiceNow or Remedy
  • Knowledge in Enterprise Architecture practices
  • Knowledge in Systems Test Management

    WORKING CONDITIONS:   Standard business work environment on a customer site.  Ability and flexibility to work on a varied shift is expected. The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.  Must be able to lift and carry at least 30-50 lbs.  Office attire required at all times.  Public transportation access only; parking on site is limited.  Site location is the DHS St. Elizabeths Campus, Washington, DC
